INE: The annual rate of change of the Housing Price Index increases almost one point and stands at 4.2%
The INE has published a new report on the annual rate of variation of the Housing Price Index. As we can see below in that report, the index reaches 4.2%, increasing almost one point.

Annual evolution of housing prices
The annual variation of the Housing Price Index (IPV) in the third quarter of 2021 increases by nine tenths and stands at 4.2%, the highest since the third quarter of 2019. By type of housing, the annual rate of new housing falls almost two points, to 4.1%. On the other hand, the variation of second-hand housing reaches 4.3%, almost a point and a half above that registered in the previous quarter.

By type of housing, new housing prices rose by 2.8% between the third and second quarters of 2021. On the other hand, the prices of second-hand housing increased by 1.9%.

Results by autonomous communities. Annual rates of change
The annual rate of the IPV in the third quarter of 2021 increases compared to the second in all the autonomous communities, except in the Basque Country, where it decreases 1.2 points.
The largest increases occur in La Rioja, Andalusia and Galicia, with increases of 2.8, 2.4 and 2.3 points, respectively.

House prices present positive quarterly rates in the third quarter of 2021 in all the autonomous communities.
The largest increases occur in the Balearic Islands, Andalusia and the Region of Murcia, with increases of 4.3%, 3.4% and 2.7%, respectively.
On the other hand, Extremadura (0.2%), principality of Asturias (0.8%) and the Basque Country (0.9%), recorded the lowest quarterly increases.

Methodological note
The main objective of the Housing Price Index (IPV) is to measure the evolution of the purchase and sale price of free homes acquired by households in Spain, both new and second-hand housing, adjusting changes in the composition and quality of homes acquired in different periods through a method that combines stratification with a regression model.
